The EMC sporting teams are doing us proud! The following two events took place recently:
| PROVINCIAL SPORT CAMP: 29 – 30 SEPTEMBER |
- EMC students and technical officials who were selected to represent the province at the Summer Ball Games attended a provincial sport camp at Coega Village in Port Elizabeth.
- Mr Tshepo Ratsibe, EMC Sport, Arts & Culture Officer was appointed as General Manager of Eastern Cape team. Congratulations Tshepo! J
| CoSACSA SUMMER BALL GAMES: 1 – 4 OCTOBER |
- The games took place at the Hottentots-Holland High School and Helderberg College in Somerset-West.
- Seven provinces, Mpumalanga; Gauteng; Limpopo; North-West; KwaZulu-Natal; Eastern Cape and Western Cape, participated in this event.
- Teams competed in codes such as rugby (male & female); soccer (male & female); netball; volleyball (male & female); table tennis (male & female); basketball (male & female) and chess (male & female).
- The Eastern Cape teams excelled and achieved the following accolades:
- Netball – GOLD (4 x EMC students + coach)
- Volleyball (females) – GOLD
- Rugby (females) – GOLD
- Table tennis (males) – GOLD (3 x EMC students)
- Table tennis (females) – GOLD ( 2 x EMC students)
- Table tennis (double, males) – BRONZE
- Table tennis (double, females) – GOLD
- Soccer (males) – SILVER (7 x EMC students + coach + manager)
- Chess (males) – BRONZE
- Chess (females) – BRONZE (1 x EMC student + manager)
- Basketball – BRONZE
The Eastern Cape was crowned as the overall winner of the tournament! We were awarded a total of 6 x gold; 1 x silver and 4 x bronze medals.
