The Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) is responsible for the Administration and Conduct of the National examination processes.<\/span><\/p>

Examination is an external (written) component of the assessment process, set by the Directorate:<\/span>

Concessions For Barriers To Learning<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Students who experience barriers to learning (with special needs), that may adversely impact on their ability to perform during examination and assessments, may apply for concession (additional time) for writing the examinations.<\/span><\/p><\/header>

Applications for such concessions should be applied for by the examination officer and approved by the Chief Directorate: National Examinations and Assessment. Original or certified copies of the relevant documentation that supports the diagnoses of the barrier to learning must accompany all applications.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Irregularities<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

An irregularity is any event, act or omission, or any alleged event, which may undermine or threaten to undermine the integrity, credibility, security or the fairness of the examination processes.<\/p>

Students could forfeit their results and be suspended from writing examinations for a period of 11 months, should they contravene any of the examination instructions (as per National admission permit and\/or Examination Instructions)<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

National Certificate (Vocational)<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

The National Certificate (Vocational) NC(V) qualification comprises an internal on-site process (ICASS & ISAT), as well as a national external written examination, set by the Directorate: Examinations and Assessment of the DHET. The external examination is written during October\/November of each year, follow up with a supplementary examination in February of the next year.<\/span><\/p>

ICASS for Vocational\/ Fundamental subjects is done in the form of two\/ three tests, two\/ three tasks and internal examinations (CAT) which covers the whole syllabus.<\/p>

ISAT (Integrated Summative Assessment Tasks) is done in two phases, either throughout the year or within stipulated hours in a day as prescribed in the SAGs (Subject & Assessment Guidelines). The ISAT mark is valid for a period of three years to complete a qualification. The ICASS mark is valid up to the first supplementary examination immediately following the November examinations.<\/p>

A student who failed has to redo all the ICASS tasks for that subject. For students to be resulted, the following requirements are compulsory: All THREE components (ICASS, ISAT and Examination) for vocational subjects, BOTH components (ICASS and Examination) for fundamental subjects and subjects with two (2) examination papers, both papers should be written.<\/p><\/header><\/header>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

      The Report 191 qualification comprises an internal on site process (ICASS) as well as a national external examination, set by the Directorate: Examinations and Assessment of the DHET.<\/p>

      The Report 191 internal continuous assessment (ICASS) marks for Business Studies (Semester) marks are valid for two (2) consecutive years and for Engineering Studies (Trimester) marks are valid for three (3) examinations.<\/p>

      The external examination for Business Studies: June & November of each year.

      Registered students, who missed question papers due to legitimate reasons during the November examinations, MUST\u00a0apply at the campus before the end of the November examination, to write these question papers during the Supplementary Examination.<\/p>
