Career Development Centre
Creating New Futures!
The Career Development Centre’s (CDC) primary goal is to assist its students with gaining the necessary ‘soft skills’ required for industry.
The CDC hosts regular meaningful work-readiness workshops, and coordinates short periods of workplace-based work experience for students during their Colllege holiday periods.
Students from EMC can look forward to attending the annual Careers Fair, whereby they are exposed to a network of prospective employers, SETA’s and government departments to gain access to possible Internship, Learnership, Apprenticeship and entry-level job opportunities. The CDC connects with industry and government departments in an effort to establish partnerships – in support of employment and work-readiness opportunities for EMC’s students.

In support of our students to become more employable for industry, Eastcape Midlands College has an established Career Development Centre (CDC) which aims to engage EMC students in meaningful work-readiness workshops and consultations, where students are encouraged to register their CV’s to the Student Database for experiential learning opportunities in industry.
The Career Development Centre strives to actively identify & partner with companies and local businesses, who are willing to host on-course students during their holidays, in order for the students to gain Workplace-Based Experience (WBE) and ‘soft’ skills which complement their theoretical knowledge gained in the classroom.
Each year the CDC hosts an exciting Career Fair, where experts from industry are invited to address the exit-level students . During this event, students are exposed to future job & career, internship and bursary opportunities as well as access to a valuable network of future employers , whom they can interact with!
The core focus of the Career Development Centre, is to assist their exit-level students to gain access to job / internship opportunities in industry, in order for them to gain the relevant work experience (Work Integrated Learning) which is aligned to their programme of study, thus ensuring that students are able to qualify for their National Diploma with the Department of Higher Education.
The Career Development Centre connects with local businesses to coordinate projects involving placement of graduates, & support alumni members in finding sustainable career opportunities in industry.
