Quality Management & Quality Assurance
Quality Management
Eastcape Midlands College has adopted the maturity model concept
Eastcape Midlands TVET College has, as part of the national DHET mandate adopted the Maturity Model concept to interlink with our current quality management processes. This concept takes into account the institution’s current state of compliance and develops an Improvement Plan to close the gaps in its vision to become a fully matured institution.
The Maturity Model concept is pulling all resources, plans, management, and commitment towards a center point called, “Student Centred Culture”. This concept has become part of our culture and is being reported on at every level of the college, including our Governance structures. This is an exciting journey with some rewards we have experienced. We are confident that eventually, we will be a fully matured institution in the near future.
Quality Assurance
What is Quality Assurance?
Quality Assurance (QA) is a process driven approach, it is a process to monitor and improve existing quality processes.
It is a process of verifying whether the process product or services meets or exceeds the customer expectations.
It ensures that the product or services are developed or implemented on agreed standards.
Quality assurance ensures that the processes designed for the product development and services are effective enough to meet the objectives.
It prevents process defects/errors.
Quality assurance is about engineering processes which assure quality.
The keyword to pay attention to is “processes”.
Q.A extends far beyond what we call the ‘process testing team’. The goal is to develop high quality products in the most efficient way, and it cannot be achieved by testing alone.
