How to apply for a Certificate/Diploma

Creating New Futures!

Certificates:

Certificates are issued by the National Department Higher Education and Training in Pretoria.

All enquiries for certificates are dealt with by the examination officer at each campus.

N1 to N6 Certificates are issued automatically when the candidate passes 4 (four) required subjects for the program.

An Engineering candidate may apply for a  3 (three) subject certificate through the campus where the candidate studied.

If a 3 (three) subject certificate is issued for a level, no additional subjects can be added to the certificate at a later stage.

DHET will only issue a statement of results for additional subjects.

Fees:

Application for a lost/duplicate certificate is payable at the TVET college.

NB. Application for a lost/duplicate certificate must be supported by an affidavit, copy of identity document and proof of payment.

Diplomas:

National N Diplomas are approved and issued by the National Department of Higher Education and Training in Pretoria.

National N Diploma is a 3 year-qualification, the candidate will qualify three years after entering tertiary level.

All applications and enquiries for diplomas are dealt with by the examination officer at each campus.

Processes & Procedures:

All applications must be done via the candidate’s examination centre.

It is compulsory that candidates complete the DHET application form.

Certified copies of Identity document, certificates (N4, N5, N6 & trade test) and any other supporting documentary proof, e.g. Statement of results, must accompany the application.

Requirements:

A minimum of 12 successfully passed subjects.

A candidate must produce proof of 18 months (Business) / 24 months (Engineering) applicable experience in a relevant industry that has as its main function the practical execution of the programme applied for.

A minimum of 2 instructional offerings on the N6 level must be relevant to the candidate’s vocation.

The experiential training letter must be on an official original letterhead, signed by the manager and must bear company stamp.

Specific dates (day, month, year) of commencement and ending of services regarding the candidate’s practical training must be indicated.

The experiential  training letter of candidates who obtain their practical experience at a TVET College must be signed by the Campus Manager.

Non-compliance:

Applications that do not meet the requirements will be rejected and sent back by DHET to the TVET College.

Fees:

Application for a diploma (including lost/duplicate diplomas) is payable at the TVET college.
